Just prior to securing the account, SS8 had acquired a division of ADC expanding its signaling and lawful intercept offerings to include enhanced services products such as unified messaging platforms. The acquisition gave SS8 an installed customer base, additional employees, new markets to tackle and significant revenue, but the upgrade was a double-edged sword.
The new SS8 was a significantly different company from the one analysts had known previously. We had to reacquaint them with the analyst community. In true M/C/C fashion, we put together an analyst forum in San Jose, SS8 headquarters. We invited all of the popular kids. Twelve analysts came to the one-day event to get a better understanding of the company's direction, meet senior executives, engage in dialogue on industry trends and discuss SS8's offerings. Not only did the little shindig establish SS8 as a source for expert opinions and information on the rapidly changing world of telecommunications, but also was the catalyst for a long series of analyst briefings about new trends in the marketplace.
Today, SS8 is a long way from its previous life. It now has a strong relationship with organizations such as the Yankee Group and Current Analysis among others. I guess you can say the company is quite the hit.
